Problems/Symptoms:
1. The printer creates a grinding noise and has an error on the display.
-A CD fell into the paper feeder, and the printer was turned on. The CD did not enter the printer; the CD could easily be removed from the paper feeder because the printer gave an error.
Solution:
-I opened the case where the ink cartridges are located, and I pushed the cartridges to the left side so that I can gain access to a kind of latch. This latch can be pulled down to free the roller, so that it can move freely. Then I positioned the roller close to the separator pad. The printer was powered on after a sheet of paper was placed in the paper feeder.
The printer making the grinding noise
This picture shows the position of the roller which gave an error.
There is some kind of latch located towards the bottom left of the ink cartridge. If the latch is gently pulled back, the roller can move freely.
The roller is much closer to the separator pad, and a sheet of paper was placed in this feeder with the roller in this position. The printer was then powered on.
After positioning the roller and inserting the paper, the printer is now able to turn on properly.
