How to Install Active Directory(AD) on Windows 11 Education – Installation Issues/Error

28 May

Windows 11 Education edition has some slight issues when installing RSAT or active directory. When attempting to install Active Directory features through the “Optional Features” section in Windows 11 Settings, the installation process may fail and display the error message: “Couldn’t install.”

This issue occurs when selecting Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Services Tools from the RSAT feature list. Although the feature appears available within Windows 11 Education, the installation does not complete successfully, preventing users from accessing Active Directory management tools such as Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC). Maybe Microsoft will address this issue with later updates.

In order to install RSAT successfully on a Windows 11 Education version, you need to install it with the .exe file. You can obtain that file from the Microsoft website or through this link provided.

After downloading the .exe file, you would simply run the application and follow the onscreen installation instruction by the application.
