If you have a computer that is running slow and sluggish, your computer might be getting hot causing the hardware to run slow. A computer may also experience freezing. Although there may be other issues causing a computer to run slow such as a corrupted operating system or a virus, the issue may lay within the hardware. If the computer has already been troubleshooted and there is nothing left to check, it may be worth a try to reapply some new thermal paste.

Different laptops have different design layouts, but for this Dell Latitude E5450 the motherboard has to be removed in order to get to the heatsink. Not all computer require the removal of the motherboard, and some computer have the heatsink right at the top. Some computers have the heatsink sitting on the other side of the bottom cover of the laptop.

For this Dell Latitude E5450, the heatsink is quite deep inside of the system.
