USB-C Not Functioning Properly

1 Jun

USB-C ports have become increasingly popular due to their versatility and convenience. The newer USB-C carries video, sound, data, etc. This newer type USB port is a smaller port compared to the older USB ports. Although these newer USB ports are convenient, I noticed that these ports tend to malfunction due to wear and tear easily. There can be multiple reasons as to why a USB-C port is not working, but in this blog post this USB-C loosened due to wear and tear. In this post, I will be soldering the joints of a USB-C port.

I applied some flux onto the joints, and then I heated my iron to apply solder to the joints. Applying the hot soldering iron to the joints first then applying solder to the joints allow the solder to stick onto the joint. Before applying solder and heat, it is important to add flux. I used flux made by Amtech and attached a thin tip that I bought separately. The thin tip that is attached to the syringe helps to reach those hard to reach places.

The picture below shows a thin tip attachment attached to the syringe of flux.
