The fan in a laptop is an important component in the sysytem and it should be addressed as soon as possible. The fans is usually located near the heatsink where the heatsink absorbs the heat from the CPU and the fan blows air through the heatsink fins which results in cooling down the system. This model is setup similar to many computers where the fan is near the heatsink. In addition, this model also has two fans in the system.
To remove the fans, start by removing the back plate of the computer. This particular model requires a torx bit to remove the screws holding the backing plate.
Removing the backing plate for this model can be a little bit tricky. Once the screws are removed, the backing plate will be tightly attached to the laptop. A pry tool will help to remove the backing plate from the computer.
Once the pry tool is able to squeeze in between the plate and the computer, the tool can slowly and carefully slide across to loosen the rest of the sides of the backing plate.
Once the back plate cover is fully loosened, the part can be removed easily.
With the computer facing flat on surface, there is a one fan on the left and one fan on the right side of the computer. Before attempting to remove the fans in the system, it is best to disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard. Replacing the fans for this computer is simple and straight forward, but disconnecting the battery cable may prevent any potential electrical problems.
The fans are being held down by screws that require a Philips screw driver.
There is a total of four screws that need to be removed to remove the two fans. Each fan in this system has two screws holding down the fan. The fans also have an electrical connector that connects to the motherboard. As soon as the screws are removed, the old fans can be removed and new fans can be installed.
When the new fans are installed and everything is fastened, I suggest running a diagnostics test. Press the F12 key upon boot to enter the diagnostics options. Run the full test to make sure that the system is running properly and most importantly check to see if the fan error has disappeared.
