On some laptops, a battery will have a power cable that is separate from the battery. This is espeically true for a battery in a Dell 7300 Latitude laptop. In addition, this particular laptop had an issue where the laptop would not charge pass 55%. Replacing the battery cable resolved the issue. There can be other causes causing this battery issue, but for this particular case it was the battery cable.
Replacing the battery cable is straight forward and simple. The battery is located underneath the back plate, so the back plate will need to be removed. Once the back plate is removed, there should be a screw or two screws holding down the battery. Once the battery can be removed, the cable can simply be replaced.
