Problems/Symptoms:
1. When the computer’s main power switch is off, the computer does not retain the correct time or BIOS settings.
Solution:
-In my situation, I needed to change the CMOS battery. The CMOS battery allows the BIOS to retain its information when the computer is unplugged.
When you unplug the computer or fully power down the system with the power switch, the computer may lose the correct time and BIOS settings just like my desktop computer.
In order to change the CMOS battery, you will need a replacement CR2032 battery. These batteries are also used in a watch, so you can get them at a place where they sell watch batteries.
There is a latch at the bottom that can be lightly pushed down to release the battery.
Insert the new battery and power on the system. Change the time or BIOS settings and restart the computer to verify if it is functional.
