If you want to place an application’s icon onto the desktop, you could simply search the program in the search bar and right-click and select open file location. Then you could easily just drag and drop the icon onto the desktop. Not all program icons can be found this way, however. To find the program’s icon that cannot be found by right-clicking and selecting going to the file location, you will have to do it with another method.
The other method is pressing the windows key and R to bring up the run prompt. Once this is open, type in shell:AppsFolder and this should open the window with all of the program icons. When this window is open, you can simply drag and drop the icon on the desktop.
