Dell Vostro 5420 Not Powering On When Pressing Power Button Power Button Not Responsive

A computer that might have been dropped, can definitely cause damage to the computer. A dropped computer can cause cosmetic damage as well as internal damage. A computer that I have seen was dropped and had severe cracks near the hinge of the computer. Not only was the hinge cracked, but the computer was not powering on when pressing down the power button.

The Dell Vostro 5402 laptop computer has two internal circuit boards. One of the circuit boards is the main board. The other board is the IO board. This IO board is connected to the power button, and then this IO board connects to the main board. The Power signal has to pass through the IO board before going to the main board, so it is important to have a functioning IO board. In this case, the IO board was definitely functioning. The issue was that the cable connected to the IO board was not connected. The cable has disconnected probably from the drop of the computer. Simply reconnecting this cable that connects to the IO board to the motherboard fixed the issue of the power button not responding.
