Dell Optiplex All-in-One Not Booting Screen Stays Black and Power Indicator Light Slowly Lights and Turns Off

Multiple things can cause a computer not to boot. One reason could be caused by software such as an operating system gone corrupt. Another reason could be hardware such as a motherboard failure. In this blog post, I will talk about how a Dell Optiplex 7400 All-in-One was not booting and what was the cause of a no boot. I wanted to talk about this machine in particular because the cause of the computer that was not booting was not a common issue.

Solution:

The reason why the computer was not booting was because of a label maker printer that was connected to the computer via USB. Once this label maker printer was unplugged from the computer, the computer was able to boot without any problems. A hardware problem could have been causing this or even software. Maybe the label maker had a hardware failure causing the computer not to boot. The motherboard was already replaced on the computer, so I feel the computer can be ruled out. The USB ports are directly seated on the motherboard, so when the motherboard is replaced, the USB ports are also replaced. I hope that this blog post may help someone fix their issue if they are having any similar issues or may help them in their troubleshooting as well.
