In this blog post, I will show that there is a common problem that may seem like a big problem with the webcam. This is, especially, true for Dell computers, but may be true for other Brands of computer as well. Sometimes the webcam cannot be detected in the Windows Operating system. If a user tries to turn on the camera or check in the device manager, there is no sign that the camera is detected. While this may seem like a hardware failure or maybe a software issue within Windows, it can be simply a setting within the BIOS. There is an enable and disable option in the BIOS, and this setting can enable or disable the webcam. While hardware failure is a possible cause for an undetected webcam, I recommend to check the BIOS setting first. It is quite common where the webcam is not detected due to the BIOS setting. If you can, check this BIOS setting first!
This BIOS interface shown below is the older interface from Dell.
