Problem/symptoms:
The monitor would display artifacts and strange colors. Sometimes the system would automatically crash and reboot.
Solution:
The drivers seem to be fine because artifacts would display even before Windows can boot. The video card was faulty and needed replacement.
How to replace the video card:
1. Fully power off the system. I would suggest to unplug the power chord.
2. Open the case to gain access to the system hardware.
3. If there are power connectors connected to the video card, unplug them. In the picture, the video card has two 6-pin power connectors which need to be unplugged. Unplug the monitor cable as well.
4. Unscrew the video card, and unhook the latch on the pci-e slot that is holding the video card. The video card can now be removed.
5. Place the new video card into place, and remember to connect all of the connectors such as the power and monitor cables.
6. Power on the system to test if everything is functional.
7. Remove the older graphics card drivers and install the new drivers.
