Hard Drive Error and Hard Drive Replacement

Problems/Symptoms:
1. The monitor displays “DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.”

Solution:
-There can be a number of reasons as to why this error message pops up, but sometimes the hard drive can be faulty and will need to be replaced. If the the USB ports do not have a flash drive installed, and the BIOS configurations are setup properly, then it is very possible that the hard drive is faulty.

Open the side of the case to gain access to the components such as the hard drive.

Locate the hard drive and unplug the power cable and data cable. In this particular situation, this hard drive uses and IDE connection cable.

Remove the front case, so that the hard drive can be removed. There is a latch inside of the case that is holding the front cover. Pushing the latch is need to remove the cover. Furthermore, this particular PC case requires this to remove the hard drive. Other computer cases; however, do not require this. Most cases have screws that are holding the hard drive which you can simply unscrew.

Simply slide the hard drive out through the front. Again, this is only for this particular PC.

Reinstall everything with another hard drive, and check if the hard drive can be detected.
