Toshiba C655 Not Displaying Image/Monitor Black

Problems/Symptoms:
1. Screen is black.
-The screen is black. The backlights seem to be functional. The computer would not boot and the monitor would remain black, but the computer will have power. You can see and hear the fans turning and the hard drive spinning.

Solution:
-Tested on a separate monitor, and the computer works just fine.
-Changed out the LCD with a new one and that solved the problem. The computer seems to be fully functional now.

Conclusion:
-Changing the LCD display solved the problem.

  1. Remove the screws on the back of the laptop.

2. you need to remove the strip above the keyboard in order to reveal four screws that is holding the keyboard.

3. Once you removed the screws, you will need to lift up the keyboard and remove the keyboard cable connected to the motherboard.

4. Once you remove the keyboard there will be three connection cables that are connected to the board from the cover. Disconnect the cables so that you can detach the cover.

The wider connector is for the LCD, so you can leave that connector alone for now.

5. When the cover is removed, the motherboard should be fully visible. You can disconnect the LCD connection and Wi-Fi connectors.

6. There will be two screws holding down hinges that are holding the LCD screen. Remove the four screws on both sides.

7. Once the screen and casing is removed, you can separate the the casing to gain access to the LCD.

8. There will be a connector on the back of the LCD. Remove this cable and attache it to the new LCD screen.

9. Place the new LCD screen.

10. Reassemble everything and power on the system to verify functionality.
